World War I: Response to Call to the Colours

Much cobwebbed, and probably rarely looked at, in the old choir vestry is a list of the men of Fleetwood Congregational Church who went off to war between 1914 and 1919. The citation on the records reads

“The names mentioned below are those men who hazarded their lives in the Great War to Maintain the sacred ideals of Christian Civilization AD 1914 to 19.”

Here is a list of those named.

NOTE: The names are the 94 who ‘went off to war’ and are listed alphabetically which the roll isn’t. Further, the initials may be incorrect because there was a problem in the deciphering. Those marked + are the 17 who appear on the war memorial in the chancel.
