Our Women’s Guild of Christian Service is celebrating its 112th Year! And what a hundred and twelve years they have been. The 112th year began with a special morning service remembering not only the Guild of 2011 but its predecessors. And this was followed on September 14th by the opening meeting with a quite extraordinary Celebration of Holy Communion presided at by Tom Birch. (No, he wasn’t wearing court shoes and a two piece suit so that he could enjoy the occasion.) The first meeting recalled that ‘The Last Supper’ was a gathering of friends and so was this meeting. Friends gathering together to share news and stories which enrich lives. Wouldn’t that event in an Upper Room have been just that? And that ‘Last Supper’ was one of deep fellowship. And as bread was broken and wine shared the gathering felt in fellowship with each other and with God in Christ. Isn’t that what it is all about?
The next meeting of the Women’s Guild of Christian Service on September 28th all, women and men, are invited to be part of the true story behind ‘The Sound of Music’. Be there for fellowship and friendship which you will find hard to find elsewhere. It will be worth your effort to be in the Minor Hall on the 28th.
