Hopefully, by the time you read this the Foodbank will have moved from the Milton Street Community Centre to the former McKee Centre on Poulton Road. (The McKee Centre is more familiar to us ‘oldies’ as Welbeck library, opposite Ribble Road.)
The premises will be shared with another group (The Busy Bees). Because of this the opening times of the Foodbank will have to change. (These times will be advised as they are known.) The new times may cause a few difficulties but the main thing is that the Foodbank will be able to carry on this great apostolate – the duties or mission of a disciple, follower, missionary, messenger, apostle – to the needy. The premises may not be ideal. However, until something better comes up, the Foodbank will adapt, improvise and make it work. Information is that the facilities will be extended to allow ‘teaching’ of food preparations skills.
When the apostles looked out at the 5000, then back at Jesus as if he had lost his marbles by asking them to feed to crowd with just five loaves and two fishes, they had no idea of the consequences. Further, they were amazed when, not only was everyone fed, but that there was more left over than what they’d started with.
The Lord will provide, and what it may lead to as leftovers, in terms of changing dependent people’s lives, only he knows. We’re in his hands.
THANKS A MILLION TO ALL WHO SUPPORT THE FOODBANK!
