Mike, Mike, Tony, Alan and Steve, who are ‘Spitting on the Roast’, with Paula on the sound desk, provided an evening’s entertainment which had toes tapping and spoons adding their rhythm to a diverse offering of songs and recitations to entertain on an ‘all tickets sold’ night.

Thanks must go to Jean Riley, who we haven’t to mention for arranging the night. It was added to by the hotpots of Sandra Davies and Denise Berry and the apple pies of Jean Wadsworth and Rene Stevenson. And for the apples for the apple pies had been donated by the ‘Spitting on Roast’ Tony. (Thanks, Tony!) The kitchen staff worked off their little cotton socks and David Wilkinson had done us proud with the hall settings to which Brenda Davies’ careful arrangement of table cloths made it all very special.

One of Jonathan Davies’ infamous quizzes was won by Joanne Leadbetter. (Kath Kitchen’s table would have done better if Elsa Knight had not plunged her answers down her bosom and Mavis Diver wasn’t keeping her answers face down on the table.)

The raffle table was groaning and to all who gave the prizes go grateful thanks.
