This time it was a Friday and a sun-filled and crowded church for the wedding of Emma Louise Elizabeth McCormick and Lee Robert Wilkinson.
What made this a truly sun-filled occasion was that Emma, on the arm of her father Shaun, was preceded down the aisle by 15, yes 15, bridesmaids: Sarah Potter, Hannah Bailey, Tracy Dell, Helen Wilson, Sharne Jones, Bethany McCormick, Emmalee McCormick, Olivia Ann Parker, Ella Louise Parker, Jorja Wilkinson, Lexi Lee Wilkinson, Sophia Bailey, Millie Bailey and Jenna Bailey. Each of the bridesmaids was accompanied by groomsmen (whose names were not recorded for posterity!)
Emma was met at the chancel steps by Lee and his best man John Bridges.
There was a very full church indeed. And the gathering lifted the roof with the rendering of the hymns, ‘Come to a wedding’ and ‘Give me joy in my heart’. At the point where rings were exchanged the safe keeping of the rings for exchange was in the hands of Emma’s brother, Chris. During the signing of the registers, prepared by Ann Shadbolt, Stewart Hankinson added to the romance in the air with music for the occasion. And a pointer to how this marriage is to proceed the bride and groom left to the playing of ‘Dangerous Love!’ The service was conducted by Tom Birch.
