Hires and Lets
Fleetwood United Reformed Church has served the local community from its very beginnings. At its suite of buildings on Agnew Road, Shakespeare Road and Dronsfield Road we are able to offer our well-appointed accommodation for concerts, children’s parties, local community groups. The facilities include those provided under the Disability Discrimination Act with ramps and toilets etc.
THE CHURCH
There is a dedicated entrance on Agnew Road. Access is either by steps or a fixed slope provided to meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.
From ecumenical gatherings to concerts, the church has superb natural acoustics, but can offer a comprehensive range of voice and instrumental radio & fix microphones and audio systems, including induction loop.
There is seating for around 200 in the nave and 50 in the gallery.
THE MAIN HALL
With a dedicated entrance on Dronsfield Road this is an ideal venue for gatherings where refeshments from cups of tea/coffee to full meals can be prepared in a commercial quality kitchen. It is widely used by community groups and for children’s parties.
The hall has approximately 340 square metres of free space. It has a declared maximum room occupancy of 162. However, this 162 number may be reduced by the space required for tables or tables and seating generally by three for each table and one for each chair deployed.
Not included in 340 square metres is is a fixed stage located at one end of the hall. At the opposite end of the hall to the stage there are toilets, including a toilet for the disabled, and cloakrooms. Radio and fix microphones and audio systems can be provided.
THE MINOR HALL
For those small group gatherings the minor hall has proved to be an ideal venue. Access is from the Dronsfield Road main hall entrance.
The hall measures approximately 120 square metres of free space. It has a declared room occupancy of 80. However, this 80 number may be reduced by the space required for tables or tables and chairs generally by three for each table and one for each chair deployed.
THE COFFEE LOUNGE
An intimate venue for small groups the coffee lounge has proved to be an ideal. Access is from the Dronsfield Road main hall entrance.
The lounge measures approximately 60 square metres of free space.It has a declared room occupancy of 40. However, this 40 number may be reduced by tables or tables and chairs generally by three for each table and one for each chair deployed.
THE KITCHEN
The kitchen has two electric ovens and microwave oven. Ample provision has been made for boiling water by kettles. The kitchen is well provided with ample work surfaces including an island unit. There is a double sink with draining boards.
OTHER FACILITIES
On the south side of the church there is a quadrangle and garden. The quadrangle is a sun trap and has been used for ‘afternoon teas’. The garden area was set out as a memorial garden with perimeter beds and a central piazza with flower beds and fixed benches.
CONDITIONS FOR HIRE OR LET
All hires and lets, whether for a one-off or long term-term, one or more sessions, are by a contract with the Fleetwood United Reformed Church. It may appear that the contract terms and conditions are strict. However, the contract is there to protect both the hirer and the church against the consequences of exposure of those using the premises to hazards, risks, abnormal occurrences and non-compliance in regard to legal and other matters. A failure to meet the terms and conditions of the contract will cause immediate termination of the contract and could lead to action against the hirer or the church or both.
The church does not have a licence for the consumption or sale of alchohol. Therefore, no event in the halls should dispense alcohol.
The church does not have a theatre or entertainment licence. Therefore, this conditions what may take place in the halls as follows:
1: Is the event in church?
If YES, neither a theatre licence nor entertainment licence is required.
If NO, go to question 2.
2: Is the event open to the general public?
If YES, go to question 3.
If NO, neither a theatre licence nor entertainment licence is required.
3: Is the event a ‘dramatic’ production?
If YES, a theatre licence is required.
If NO, an entertainment licence is required.
NOTE FOR GUIDANCE: ‘Dramatic’ and ‘entertainment’ are defined in the widest sense. Music, singing, dancing, acting, verse speaking, stage plays, live or recorded music, video/CD projections &c are classed as ‘dramatic’ or ‘entertainment’. An event open to the ‘general public’ is where attendance at the event is NOT limited to: (i) people who are members of the hirer’s organisation or group as defined in the hire agreement and (ii) guests of those members.
No event should take place for which a licence is required.
