the fifteen, fifteen and fifteen percent rule

A New Year’s resolution! Touch a ‘new face’.

Adding to our numbers is easy to say but difficult to achieve. Here’s why and

OK, you can argue over the precise percentages:

  • Of every 100 ‘new face’ people who come through our church doors, 15%, that is 15 people out of the 100, are there because they have a deep-down in their heart, genuine, sincere reason for being there.
  • Of those genuine, sincere 15, we are doing very well if 15%, or 2.25 people, will return for a second ‘helping’. (There may be a gap between a first contact and the second.)
  • And, here’s the crunch, we are doing extremely well if 15% of the 2.25, or 0.34 people, become regular attenders.

The point of the above is that if we are not touching 100 ‘new face’ people, by whatever God given opportunities are given to us, and if growth is what we are striving for, and, more importantly, we are not seizing occasions to present the Gospel, then growth is extremely difficult to achieve and the Gospel is not being heard. (That’s a long sentence but you know what is meant!) And, what are those God given opportunities? ‘Special’ services like, Police Memorial Day; weddings, baptisms, funerals; coffee mornings, fairs; use of the halls by groups, children’s parties and the like.

If the fifteen percent rule is right how does Fleetwood ‘stack-up’? There is insufficient space here to provide all the figures. Be certain of this: Do the sums and give thanks.  We do get 100 ‘new faces’ through our doors and yes we do add to our church family through touching those 100 ‘new faces’.

AND A MESSAGE FOR THE CHURCHES WHO READ OUR NEWSLETTER: If ‘your’ church betters the 15% rule, then give thanks to God and share your news and how you’ve achieved what you’ve achieved.
